Barbara Ann Merdian, age 78, of Shaler Twp., passed away quietly on Sunday, October 9, 2022. The first and foremost thing she wanted to be was a mom, and her kids think she did a pretty good job. A paradox, she loved to craft, but couldn’t draw a stick figure. She loved to learn new things, like some Japanese while laid up with a broken leg, but never got her driver’s license. She loved British Television before there was a BBC America and she boot-scooted her way through the 90’s supporting local country bands. She had a crazy sense of humor and kept us laughing through her illness. She could be a pain in the butt, and a tough loving mom, but she was the best friend that anyone could have. She will be greatly missed by her children, friends and family. Survived by her son Robert F. “JR” (Kathy) Merdian Jr., Step grandson Alex Geib and Grandsons Adan and Colin; daughter Babeth (Dennis) Raible; brothers Robert Theodore (Betty), William Thomas (Barbara), Gregory John (Sandra), and kevin John, sisters Linda Lee Bindernagel and Mary Lou Kotomski; preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years Robert F. “Mort” Merdian Sr.; her parents Robert Ralph Perry and Gertrude Hilda Schrott; sisters Janice Mae Comley, Carol Jean Worsley, and brothers Thomas Robert and Ronald Paul (Sandy). Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:30 PM.
