Carolyn Cooper of Allison Park, PA died on the afternoon of March 8, 2023, following a short illness. Born June 20, 1942, to William C. and Jane H. (Say) Shakely, she was raised in Bruin and Butler, Pennsylvania before moving to the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh to begin her own career and raise a family. In her final years, she was a resident of Highpointe at Concordia where she enjoyed hallways of friends and lots of crafts. A special education teacher for 34 years, Carolyn was a “crafty one” with always something to make to simply say, “I care,” or more poignantly, “I love you.” From ceramics, rugs, macrame, needlepoint, holiday decorations, scrapbooks and greeting cards, she shared the scenes and colors of life in countless ways. She gave her sons life and love, taught them to read, cook, make their beds, to not quit, stand up for what’s right and to always care for one another. Her love for her boys – Richard and Scott, their wives (Lisa & Colleen) and her five grandchildren (Alexandra, Alivia, Zachary, Michael and Nicholas) was only matched by her love, care and devotion for her husband, Richard “Dick” Cooper for more than 50 years. The former classmates at Butler High School made a life of lessons, laughter and love for their sons and anyone who came into their lives. Her last words to each of her sons were, “I love you.” Her family will receive visitors at Bock Funeral Home, 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116 on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 1:00PM-3:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM. A celebration of her life will be held at Nativity Lutheran Church, 4517 Mount Royal Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101 on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:00AM, followed by a private interment at Mount Royal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nativity Lutheran Church, Attn: Memorial Fund, 4517 Mount Royal Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101.
