Cynthia C. Jergan

Cynthia (Cubelic) Jergan, On Thursday February 6, 2025, Cindy lost her four and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. Cindy was born in Pittsburgh on December 6, 1962. The oldest daughter of Charles and Carol Cubelic. She is the sister of Christine Wyke (dec. Craig), Charles (Pamela) and Cathleen (Patrick Farrell). A 1980 graduate of Shaler High School, Cindy attended Duquesne University where she graduated with a degree in Journalism, and was also a featured performer with the Tamburitzans. Upon graduation, she continued her passion for both her culture and performance. She traveled to Croatia and became the first American to perform with the National State Ensemble, LADO. It was there that she met her husband and love, Zeljko. Together, she and Zeljko returned to Pittsburgh to start their new life. Cindy began her career at Ketchum, where she developed strategic marketing campaigns for some of the city’s largest events. She then moved to St. Clairsville, Ohio, where she served as Head of Communications and PR with Ormet Aluminum. The balance of her career was spent in Corporate Communications and Human Resources with Vitran, and Mortgage Connect and finally, as Director of Corporate Administration and Human Relations at the Coury Firm. Throughout her distinguished career, she established a reputation for her “no nonsense” approach and unparalleled work ethic. Her Croatian culture continued to take center stage as an integral part of her life. She spent years teaching and performing alongside her husband, children, and nieces and nephews. It was through this expression of art that her passion truly lived. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Zeljko, son Zachary, daughter-in-law Antonia, granddaughter Antonela, grandson Nikola and daughter Danijela. “Teti Cindy” will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Alexis (Paul) Svirbel, Madison and Clayton Kejas, Elizabeth (Dean) Maddox, Victoria and Chuckie Cubelic, Brandon (Lindsey), Kylie (Kevin) and Jessica Farrell. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. In her final days, Cindy spoke of her immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She also shared her sincere love and gratitude for her many family and friends, whose love, prayers and support sustained her throughout her courageous battle. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 11 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mt. Royal Boulevard Glenshaw. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 12 at 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas Church, 24 Maryland Avenue, Millvale, PA 15209. Private reception will be held for family and friends following mass. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Cindy’s name to Croatian National Hall Javor 805 East Street Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
