Edward Frank Lauer of Shaler passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at age 82 at UPMC Passavant in McCandless. He was born November 8, 1939 to Joseph and Anna Lauer. A North Catholic High School graduate, Ed enlisted in the United States Army where he served for a number of years. After his time with the Army, Ed worked at Glenshaw Glass and then moved onto the Coca-Cola Plant in East Liberty. There he created a family legacy of non-Pepsi drinkers that lasted for generations. A “Millvale boy” through and through Ed would wager a bet on just about anything, from two ants racing in the dirt to the length of a redlight. His favorite though was a good game of cards. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend his winters on the shores of North Myrtle Beach. A devoted Steelers fan, Ed did everything he could to ensure every Sunday snap was on his TV, even from South Carolina. He also loved watching NASCAR races. Ed could never pass up a good breakfast diner and loved his sweets with a cup of coffee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Jeri, his mother and father Joseph and Anna and his brother Robert. Surviving him are his son Thomas and his wife Monica, their two children Chelsea and Hallie and his daughter Janice Lauer and her daughter Casey Hicks.Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Bock Funeral Home Ltd, 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bauerstown Fire Hall.
