John L. Bottegal

John Bottegal, age 73, of Shaler Township, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Beloved husband for 50 years to Darlene (Duss) Bottegal; loving father of Jeana (Jeff) Cole; devoted grandfather of Abigail and Samantha; brother of Linda (Jim) Hohman and Victoria (late Tom) Winkler. Preceded in death by parents Mary Urso Bottegal Becker and Lindo Bottegal. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. John was dedicated to his career at The Shaler Township Water Department for 26 years where he served as Water Plant Manager. He then transitioned to Operations Manager at the newly formed Hampton Shaler Water Authority in 2012. After his retirement in 2015, John was appointed as Assistant Secretary and Member of The Board of Directors of The Hampton Shaler Water Authority. John was passionate about golf and was able to play elite courses throughout the United States and Europe. He had a zest for life and especially loved spending time with family and friends. John leaves behind a legacy of friendship having made a lasting impression in the lives of many people. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Friends will be received Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mount Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Christ the King Parish, O’Hara Twp. on Friday at 10:30 AM.
