Jon W. Drosendahl, age 84, of Glenshaw, passed peacefully at home after a brief illness on Friday, February 10, 2023. Beloved husband of 60 years to Aileen (Davies); loving father of William W., Matthew D. (Bethany), and Beth D. (Michael) Zak; proud grandfather of Madilyn, Jaquelyn, Jonathan, and the late Alicia; dear sister of the late Gail Rennhard; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Jon graduated from Syracuse University where he and Aileen met in 1960. He was a Commissioned Officer in the US Coast and Geodetic Survey. Jon retired in 2004 from a long and successful career as a Civil Engineer. He managed many projects including the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport, Pennsylvania Turnpike, St. Francis Hospital, General Mail Facility of Pittsburgh, the East Busway and the 16th Street Bridge, among others. He was proud of his track record of completing projects on time and on budget. Over the years, Jon served his community as Shaler Area School Board President, Zoar Home Board member, and Shaler Area Band Parents President. He was especially involved in the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, where he served in many roles including state president. Jon loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at the family cottage on the Allegheny River. He loved jazz, bowling and attending cultural events, especially Pittsburgh Public Theatre. His travels picked up after retirement, taking him and Aileen on countless adventures around the world. Friends will be received on Thursday from 3 to 5 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Shaler North Hills Library OR to the PA Society of Professional Engineers www.pspe.org
