Joyce Anne Sciere passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 90. A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joyce touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity and love. Joyce was born October 24, 1934, and grew up on a farm in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, with her parents and four siblings where she developed a lifelong appreciation for nature. She attended Randolph High School where she served as yearbook editor and graduated as a co-valedictorian. Joyce embarked on a career in fashion retail before retiring to pursue her creative passions. An exceptionally gifted seamstress, Joyce could transform fabric into anything from elegant gowns to costumes and home décor. Her creativity flourished through her business, Doors Adorned, where she made decorative wreaths and floral designs that graced many homes with beauty. Joyce loved all types of music, especially Irish music. She played the piano and had a had a beautiful singing voice. Joyce was known for her strong faith and enjoyed serving as a CCD teacher along with her husband at their parish, St. Mary’s of the Assumption of Glenshaw. Joyce was married to her late husband of 62 years, Anthony “Tony” Sciere (July 1, 2016). Together they built a loving family that includes their four children: John (Kimberly), Kathleen (David) Levine, Julie (Ronald) Hudak, and Stephen (Megan). She was adored by her six grandchildren—John II (Hollie) Sciere, Jessica Sciere, Jennifer (David) DiSanti, Rosslyn Dougherty, Daniel Dougherty, and Madeline Hudak—and nine great-grandchildren (who affectionately called her "Grandma Jo Jo”)- Payton, Anthony, Gabriel and Angelo Sciere; Charlotte and Denver Forcht; and Elizabeth, Josephine and Cecelia DiSanti. She is survived by her sister Macie McElhaney and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Jane (Bisbee) and Merle Wesley Humes; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Ed Castile; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Phyllis Humes; and a brother, Fred Humes. Family meant everything to Joyce, and her influence will live on through her family forever. Joyce will be remembered for her youthful spirit, strong faith, love of holidays and family gatherings, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved like family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. Friends and relatives will be received at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME LTD., on 1500 Mt. Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, PA 15116 on Tuesday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow in the Holy Savior Mausoleum in Pine Township, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America: Donate - Dementia Society of America (charityproud.org)
