Julia E. Miller (Connell/Emricko), 81, of Ligonier, Swissvale, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday November 19, 2024, after a full-life and strong fight against pulmonary fibrosis, surrounded by her loving family. Julia was born on November 20, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Julie Kristofsky and Michael Emricko. In 1959, she was married to Edward Connell (d. 1985), with whom she raised a family of eight children in Pittsburgh and Swissvale. In 1993 she married Myers “Toby” Miller (d. 2011) and relocated to Ligonier. She fully embraced her transition from city to country and was her happiest growing and harvesting from her garden, enjoying wildlife, and spending time with her loved ones around the bonfire or large picnic table. Julia worked as a beauty technician Elizabeth Arden’s at Kauffman’s Downtown Pittsburgh. She also worked at James Vincent Salon in Ligonier. Julia’s foremost passion in life was her family. She was a devoted caregiver, listener and advisor to her friends and family. Known by her loved ones as “Jules,” “Mummy,” “Bunny,” and “Ging-gong,” she enjoyed and found happiness in hosting gatherings and welcoming all with delicious food. Her door was always open, and your call was always answered – for a quick chat, a long stay, or a comforting moment. Julia is preceded in death by her parents Julie Kristofsky and Michael Emricko, her husband Myers “Toby” Miller; her children, Patrick Connell; Naomi Connell; and Allison Connell, and her sister, Maria Emircko. She is survived by her sisters: Joan Pinto (Lee), and Helen “Pinky” Uram (John); her loving children and stepchildren; Jeanne Petrovich (Paul), Edward “Freshie” Connell, Adrianne Connell, Randi Goulding, Zachariah Connell (Melanie), Sebastion Goulding (Tabitha), Gage Goulding (Megan), her step-children Jeff (Melissa) Miller, Todd Miller and Brian (Lisa) Miller; and her grandchildren: Andrew Petrovich, Francis Petrovich (Leslie), Emily Elizer (Matthew), Diana Futrovsky (Samuel), Leah Herman (Eric), Riley Petrovich, Amanda Roberts (Eric), Jacob Connell (Jessica), Nicholas Connell, and Benjamin Connell; her step-grandchildren Myers (Brittany), Hannah (Dan), Charles (Shelby Bell), Olivia (Teddy), Kyrie, Justin Close, Cameron and Carissa; and her great grandchildren: Brady, Logan, and Connor Elizer; Winifred, Isidore, and Valentine Futrovsky; Vera and Levi Herman; Vienna, Mia, and Nico Roberts; Acadia and Elden Connell; and Natalie, Landyn, Malaya, Bayzlee, and Wylie Goulding. Friends will be received Sunday, November 24 from 12:00 to 7:00 PM at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mount Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 25 at 10:00 AM. at St Bonaventure Church, St. Matthew Parish, 2001 Mt Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116, with Father Jim Gretz officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be private. Memorial donations in Julia’s memory may be directed to Little Sisters of the Poor, Pittsburgh PA
