Kathryn F. Leight

Kathryn Frances Leight, born January 27, 1947, has departed to heaven to join her husband John, sister Claudia, and brother Bob. Kathy grew up in Morningside, raised her family in Shaler with her husband John, and loved keeping a home where she could host parties and celebrations for friends and family, especially the Oak Avenue progressive dinner. She worked in credit collections for Sears and Kaufmann's, and as a receptionist at Western Psychiatric where she saved lives by locking down the building during a firearm attack, despite being injured. A survivor of violence and tragedy, she always found ways to enjoy life; never saying no to another dessert or a new puppy. In retirement Kathy enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with friends, neighbors, family, and grandchildren. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Mark) and Ashley (Nick), her granddaughters Frances and Cecilia, step-son John, her beloved spaniel Joey, and the memory of everything she taught us. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-8 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Martha and Mary Parish, St. Catherine of Sweden Church.
