Laurie Jo (Netzel) O'Day

Laurie Jo (Netzel) O’Day, age 57, formerly of Shaler Township passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023. Loving mother of Ryan and Michael O’Day; sister of Julie (Ruefle) Alioto and Jean (Ruefle) Brosie; sister-in-law of Frank Alioto and Michael Brosie; proud aunt of Eric Alioto, Laura Alioto and Liam Brosie; daughter of the late Joseph and Lois (Ferketic) Netzel; sister of the late Paul J. Netzel. Laurie attended Shaler High School and went on to become a Registered Nurse. She worked for St. Margaret’s Hospital and West Penn Hospital for over 30 years Laurie was a caring and compassionate nurse. She was a hard worker; caregiving was her gift. Helping others came naturally to her. She wasn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and take on any project large or small. She loved nothing more than to give. She enjoyed shopping at the outlets—not for herself but for family and friends. She cherished all the holidays and adored animals, including her beloved dog Buddy. Friends will be received at Bock Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 Mount Royal Blvd, Glenshaw on Sunday, December 10 from 2 to 4 PM followed by a prayer at 4 PM. A private interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Sharps Hill Road, O’Hara Township.
