Rev. Gerald J. Lutz

Rev. Gerald J. Lutz, Dedicated priest in the Diocese of Pittsburgh for over 66 years, went to the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, George P. and Mathilda P. (Yester) Lutz; Sister Ida Mary Lutz, CDP; brother Gilbert M. Lutz (Janet); brother Gregory B. Lutz (the late Romaine). He is survived by siblings George N. Lutz (Rosalyn) and Nancy Feineigle (the late William). Father Lutz was born in Pittsburgh and attended All Saints School (Etna) and North Catholic High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Vincent Seminary (Latrobe), a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from St. Mary Seminary (Baltimore), a Master of Education from Duquesne University and ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on May 26, 1956. Father Lutz held a variety of positions including Parochial Vicar at St. Ambrose (North Side), St. Jerome (Charleroi), St Peter (North Side) and St. John the Baptist (Pittsburgh). He also served as Teacher and Headmaster, Mon Valley Catholic High School and Supervising Administrator, Lawrenceville Catholic High School. Father Lutz was pastor of St. Isaac Jogues (Jefferson Hills), St. Conrad (Butler), All Saints (Etna) and St. Patrick (McKeesport). In addition to serving the parishioners of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, he was also a missionary of the Society of St. James in Peru, South America and Director of the Spanish Apostolate for the Diocese of Charleston, S.C. Father Lutz loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Tionesta. Clergy, family and friends will be received on Monday from 9 AM until the time of Service at 11 AM in St. Matthew Parish, All Saints Church, Etna. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
