Ruth Amelia (Schaffer) Clark after more than 105 years of soaking up all that this world had to offer, Ruth, formerly of Bellevue and Observatory Hill, was called home on Monday, October 7, 2024. Ruth was born on Perrysville Avenue in the summer of 1919, the oldest child of the late John “Jack” and Amelia “Tilly” Schaffer. She married Charles Clark in the autumn of 1941 and became a mother in the autumn of 1942. The family lived on Observatory Hill. Ruth lived through two pandemics, World War II, the Great Depression, and many other times of historic significance. She worked at Reymer Chocolate Factory, Boggs & Buhl Pharmacy, and Wyman’s Pharmacy. Ruth loved to travel; it did not matter where. Whether it was a trip to the Aviary, Florida, Hawaii, Canada, Egypt, or India, she was ready! She loved animals and was especially fond of cats. Ruth loved life and knew how to make it fun, perhaps one of the secrets to her longevity. She was a blend of charm, mischief, and steely determination. She is survived by her daughter, Georgeann (David M.) Starsnic and two grandchildren, Barbara (Mark) Trozzi and David C. (Beth) Starsnic. Ruth was further delighted by her four great-grandchildren, Katherine Trozzi, Alexander Starsnic, Hannah Starsnic, and Benjamin Trozzi. Her passing leaves a huge hole in all of their lives. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Juniper Center in Monroeville who lovingly cared for Ruth for the last eight years of her life. Their gratitude also extends to Suncrest Hospice who provided additional care in the last year. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bock Funeral Home, Ltd., 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM.
